Description
Gearboxes are used on a wide variety of different equipment and subject to tremendous loads on the gear teeth and bearings. Without properly maintaining the oil in a gearbox the wear on gears is often accelerated. It is not recommended to sample gear oil from the bottom of the housing or from the sump as this is where the particles tend to settle and can produce elevated or false readings. For the most accurate readings, oil should be drawn from the middle of the oil bath where the oil is active. The LT Series sampling valve is the recommended product for most gearbox installation. Using a swivel adapter allows for easy installation with bent tubes to keep the tube properly oriented while installing.
